I don’t take insurance for couples therapy for several reasons, but primarily due to insurances requiring only one single individual to be identified as the primary client with a billable diagnosis. I do not single out an individual of a dyadic pair as the primary client (revoking the client privilege for the other), and z-codes for relational challenges are not acceptable diagnosis by most insurances.

A Superbill is a detailed receipt of payment that a patient can submit to their insurance for reimbursement. It includes information about the services provided, the costs incurred, identifiable client/provider information, as well as the diagnosis for the client.
I can provide a Superbill upon request for individual therapy clients. I cannot guarantee the success of reimbursement as it varies based on your specific insurance plan.

The field of mental health is vast! There are many degrees, certificates, and licenses that have their advantages based on their own training, scope, approach, and settings.
My graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy differentiate me from other similar fields where the emphasis on relationships and family systems play a big part in how I conceptualize therapy.
Psychologists have doctorate in Ph.D or Psy.D, and are trained in therapy, assessments, and research. Psychiatrists are medical doctors with MD/DO, who are able to prescribe psychiatric medications for mental health treatment in addition to therapy.
As such, only doctorates/doctors are able to provide psychological tests/assessments.
